"This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life." (John 3:16 Message)

What is the Message?

I have no doubt that you fully understand and anticipate that any page on my site that is called "The Message" will deal with Jesus. What I doubt is that you have ever heard the Message - the true Message. Too often Christianity is defined by our worst elements - the televangelists, the historical horrors, and the sensationalists. All the while the true Message of Jesus is drown out to our great loss.

I'd like to get past the so-called Christianity that we see on TV or hear about at so-called civil rights rallies. Christianity isn’t a show or a political party. Christianity isn’t another world for Republican. What Jesus would do isn’t something that we can use to bolster our own beliefs. Jesus is Jesus. His Message is His Message. Relativity may rule our current society but it can never rule Jesus' Message.

This is the Message - only this - that God loves us and wants to have a relationship with us.

How do we know? We know because eye witnesses tell us that they saw the Message live out His Message to us. "From the very first day, we were there, taking it all in—we heard it with our own ears, saw it with our own eyes, verified it with our own hands. The Word of Life appeared right before our eyes; we saw it happen! And now we're telling you in most sober prose that what we witnessed was, incredibly, this: The infinite Life of God Himself took shape before us. (1 John 1:1,2)" I don’t think anyone can reasonably doubt that Jesus was a real person or reasonably doubt that the New Testament is truly His story. The questions - as always - are about who Jesus is and what He did.

The story isn’t about the eye witnesses or even about historically chronicling the life of Jesus. It’s about the Message and what it means for you and me. "We saw it, we heard it, and now we're telling you so you can experience it along with us, this experience of communion with the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. Our motive for writing is simply this: We want you to enjoy this, too. Your joy will double our joy! (1 John 1:3,4)" The point of Jesus' life is how His Message affects our lives.

The Message used to be called the Gospel, or Good News. That’s what it’s all about: it’s Good News! Better news than any other news you or I will ever hear. The Bible tells us that God so loves us that He died for our bad behavior! God is pure goodness. We are by nature pure non-goodness. Not everyone is evil - as we commonly understand evil. But we all make mistakes. We are all selfish and greedy at heart. We are full of ego and rebellion. We are vain and conceited. These "sins" cause a rift between God and man. God cannot stand to be around people who are full of these attitudes and actions. The Bible says that God is Justice incarnate. How can Justice and Goodness possibly put up with evil, ego, conceit and selfishness? It cannot, which is why the Bible tells us in the end God will judge all evil things and bind them in a place called Hell.

We are not good and God is only good - so how can we ever get together? How can we be reconciled to God? How can we avoid the fate of the Unjust and Evil? There is no way that we can bridge that gap. That’s the bad news. The Good News is that He bridged the gap for us!

"If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar and His word has no place in our lives. (1 John 1:8-10)"

All have sinned and fallen short of Gods plans for us; plans of peace and joy and reconciliation to Him! Jesus sacrificed Himself for us to give us a second chance. That’s where we get the term, "Born Again." When we confess our sins and believe in Jesus we are given a fresh start; a new life.

The Message isn’t about money, prosperity, big TV shows, flashy suits, losing weight, politics, getting everything we want from the Lord, or any of the non-sense that we see by those who purport to represent Christianity. The Message is about love. It’s about Grace - forgiveness when God didn’t have to.

If you would like more information on this please drop me a line below. Ill be happy to talk with you and pray with you. I'm not pushy. I fully believe it is not my job to convert you. It’s just my job to live a life that God wants me to - or at least to do my best - and to tell the world about the Good News of Jesus' Message!
